I Found the Best Massage Therapy School in Oklahoma City
Every city has its fair share of vocational schools, many of which are not worth the cost of tuition. Oklahoma City is no exception. Since I wasn’t really sure if I wanted a dedicated massage therapy school or a vocational school with a broader course selection, I decided to do some research on what is available here in Oklahoma City.
Known as the Heritage Institute in some cities, and Heritage College in others, the school I chose offers the opportunity for students to build real careers, and their instructors are successful professionals in their fields. I visited their Oklahoma City location last week and was pleased to find that they offered far more than the typical massage therapy school.
Heritage offers degree programs and career training for everything from X-ray medical technicians to personal training certifications. I have a number of friends with personal training certifications who urged me to seek one, as well. They said it would help me find a job faster, in case massage therapy doesn’t work out. With Heritage, I am able to start taking some courses in each of these simultaneously, which will be a great way to decide which one I like best.
With schools located in Denver, Kansas City, Fort Myers, Wichita and Jacksonville, in addition to the one here in Oklahoma City, I decided that this school must mean business. They are accredited by the ABHES (Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools), which was very important to me, since I know ABHES has high standards of excellence.
Once I have my certification as a massage therapist, I hope to work in a spa, fitness center, wellness center or perhaps even a cruise ship! Not only will I have a secure career path as a massage therapist, my boyfriend is really looking forward to helping me with my “homework!”
